Life is Tough

The difficult questions of life are easier to deal with when we have prepared our ways before the Lord.

Jotham was one of the good kings in Judah. Not a whole lot is known about him.  He was twenty-five years old when he became king and reigned sixteen years. He did what was right in the sight of the Lord. He built the Upper gate of the house of the Lord and the wall of Ophel. He built cities, fortresses, and towers. And he defeated the king of the Ammorites who paid him tribute.

Very importantly, the  sum total of Jotham's life is reduced to a single sentence.  Jotham was mighty because he planned his life with the Lord in mind.  GOD was part of all he did.  GOD was his GOD.

So Jotham became mighty, because he prepared his ways before the LORD his God. 2 Chronicles 27:6

People who prepare their ways before the Lord, just like Jotham, deal with life's questions and problems and are successful. They may not be successful according to human standards, but they are successful because of their relationship with the Almighty GOD.

Someone who prepares his ways before GOD makes every decision with GOD in mind. Jesus taught the disciples not to worry about what they would eat or the clothes they would wear. Jesus taught His disciples not to worry much about this life.

But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you.  Take therefore no thought for the morrow: for the morrow shall take thought for the things of itself. Sufficient unto the day is the evil thereof.  Matthew 6:33-34

Someone who prepares his ways before the Lord seeks the kingdom of God and His righteousness. This person does everything in light of God's word. This person does not worry about earthly things but dwells upon spiritual things, things of GOD.

To aid in seeking GOD's kingdom and His righteousness, there is help. We do not need to stumble around trying to figure out exactly what GOD wants from us.  The Word of GOD, the Bible, is a pretty good instruction manual on what God wants and what GOD promises.  It is not difficult to ascertain what GOD requires and expects.  His plans and gifts to mankind are plain to see. The difficult part can be obeying what is read in the pages of scripture.   Being equipped by the Scriptures is essential in knowing GOD and preparing your way before the Lord. Scripture instructs in righteousness.

All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness:  That the man of God may be perfect, throughly furnished unto all good works. 2 Timothy 3:16-17

In preparing our way before the Lord we become "vessels" for honor prepared for every good work that the Lord has in mind.

But in a great house there are not only vessels of gold and of silver, but also of wood and of earth; and some to honour, and some to dishonour.  If a man therefore purge himself from these, he shall be a vessel unto honour, sanctified, and meet for the master's use, and prepared unto every good work. 2 Timothy 2:20-21

Once the Lord uses us we become mighty, just like Jotham.  The more we are used the more mighty we become.  The way we are used is backward to what most of the world practices.

But he that is greatest among you shall be your servant.  Matthew 23:11

Like usual, GOD first, others second, us last.  That order is GOD's way for us.  Life is tough; no question about it, but it is hard to squirm that much about problems and trials when our main thoughts and efforts are centered on GOD and those around us.

Are you prepared to face life's difficult questions? Are you prepared to conquer the foes of life that will beset you in the future? If not, begin preparing yourself today. Get to know GOD. Read His word.  Prepare your way before the Creator of the universe.

While you are preparing your way before the Lord, God has and is prepared a home in heaven for those who prepare their ways before Him.

Then shall the King say unto them on his right hand, Come, ye blessed of my Father, inherit the kingdom prepared for you from the foundation of the world:  Matthew 25:34

Let not your heart be troubled: ye believe in God, believe also in me.  In my Father's house are many mansions: if it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you.  And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again, and receive you unto myself; that where I am, there ye may be also. John 14:1-4

What that will be like is hard to imagine, but Jesus Himself tells us not to be troubled.  Yeah life is tough, but soon the tough times will be over.  Prepare your way before the Lord and become mighty and as you do that, Jesus prepares a mansion for you in a kingdom GOD Almighty prepared for you from the beginning of the world.  Not a bad deal.not a bad deal at all.

Not a bad deal any way you look at it.

Be blessed and meditate or meditate and be blessed.  The choice is yours!
