In the beginning God created the heaven and the earth. Genesis 1:1

As might be expected, the first verse in the Bible introduces the mighty Name of GOD.  This name, Elohim, the Hebrew name of GOD, while having the "im" ending, signifying a plurality, is used here and over two thousand other places in the Bible in a singular manner, as the Name of GOD the creator.  Elohim is a plural name with a singular meaning, which suggests that GOD is one but more than one.  This peculiar method of describing GOD by his name show all parts of GOD were present and active at the creation.  Though this plurality does not specify a trinity, the product of His creative activity is a triune universe, which strongly hints at a God of three parts, yet one GOD.   Interestingly, the word "heaven" in the first verse of the Bible seems to correspond to our modern term of space and time, while the word "earth" signifies the component of matter.  Thus a triune GOD and a triune universe are seen in the first words God has given us.  A trinity whether a triune universe or a triune GOD, exists as a continuum in which each component part is both separately coexistent and yet enclosed and enwrapped with the whole.  The triune universe is not part space, part time and part matter but is rather all space, all time and all matter.  So it is with our GOD.

And the earth was without form, and void; and darkness was upon the face of the deep. And the Spirit of God moved upon the face of the waters. Genesis 1:2

Although the marvelous universe had been called into existence, from absolutely nothing, by the omnipotent Creator it was not yet energized and set in motion.  What was this energy?  What power would activate this energy?

In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.  The same was in the beginning with God. All things were made by Him; and without Him was not any thing made that was made.  In Him was life; and the life was the light of men. John 1:1-4

The energizing action would come from the Holy Spirit and the activating power would come from the Word of God, our Lord, Jesus.  God the Father spoke the creation, the Holy Spirit energized the creation and Jesus activated the creation!

The Spirit of GOD moved.  At this point the Holy Spirit moves into action.  The word "Spirit" is the Hebrew word rauch, which means "breath" in Genesis 1:2.  The creative activity about to occur requires the person of GOD.  The particular person of GOD, the Holy Spirit, that is working at this point mentioned is both omnipresent and energizing.

The energizing activity of the Holy Spirit is described as moving upon the face of the waters.  The Hebrew word for "moved" is rachaph, which means to shake or to flutter.  The idea here seems to be an activity that is a rapid back and forth motion.  We might describe this motion as a vibration.  If the universe is to be energized (Holy Spirit) there must be an Energizer (GOD the Father).  If the universe is to be set in motion, there must be a Prime Mover (the Word of GOD, Jesus Christ).

The universe was created and is configured in a way such that the transmission of energy anywhere in the creation is in the form of waves.  There are light waves, heat waves, sound waves and even waves on the ocean.  As we have seen the universe is a triune cosmos of space, time and matter.  The forces that work on matter, in space and time, in our universe are also a trinity.  There are nuclear forces, involved in the structure of matter itself, gravitational forces and forces of the electromagnetic spectrum. All these forces are associated with fields of activity and with some form of transmission by wave motion.  The mark of GOD is on everything in the universe!  Most feel the Holy Spirit to be an indescribable or somehow invisible part of GOD, but the very creation screams of the energizing force of the Holy Spirit.  The creation vibrates with the power of the Holy Spirit of GOD.

Waves are the evidence of an energy source.  To have waves of any kind there must be a wave generator of some kind.  The first impartation of energy in the universe is described as a vibrating movement of the Spirit of GOD Himself.  Think of it!  Like ripples on a pond this out flowing of energy from the Spirit of GOD permeated the cosmos activating all creative activity that would follow.  It was not a "Big Bang" but an energizing force of GOD Almighty.  The evidence today is seen in everything around us.  The more we know about GOD the more sense we can make of His creation.  Contrary to what many may think, it's not about us. it is about HIM.  We are part of the creation.HE IS THE CREATOR.

This moving (vibrating) of the Holy Spirit empowers specific functions in the creation as well.

For the prophecy came not in old time by the will of man: but holy men of God spake as they were moved by the Holy Ghost. 2 Peter 1:21

Prophecy was energized by the same power that energized the creation.  One of the things that separate true Christianity from all the religions of the world is prophecy.  True prophecy is unique.  Prophecy comes from GOD not from man.  Prophecy is one of the ways GOD shows us His love.  Who benefits from prophecy?  Think about it!

Jesus made some promises concerning the Holy Spirit.

And I will pray the Father, and he shall give you another Comforter, that he may abide with you for ever;.But the Comforter, which is the Holy Ghost, whom the Father will send in my name, he shall teach you all things, and bring all things to your remembrance, whatsoever I have said unto you. John 14:16, 26.

This same vibrating, energizing power that pushed the creation in motion (the Holy Spirit) is given to us by GOD the Father, simply because Jesus asked.  All three parts of GOD are actively involved in empowering us.  It's so amazing.it's so incredible.it's so wonderful.  Kind of makes you vibrate all over, doesn't it?
