Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.  John 14:6

Want to make some waves?  Want to get a reaction?  Want to provoke a definite response?  Just repeat the scripture above.and you will most definitely open a "can of worms"!  An overwhelming majority will whole-heartedly disagree with this verse from the Gospel of John.  A miniscule minority will assent to the truth as written.

I'm basically a good person, so I'll go to heaven." "OK, so I do some bad things, but I do more good things, so I'll go to heaven."  "God won't send me to hell just because I don't live by the Bible. Times have changed!"  "Only really bad people like child molesters and murderers go to hell."

These are all common rationales among most people, but the truth is, they are all lies. 

It is a lie to believe that God doesn't care about small sins, and that hell is reserved for "bad people."  All sin separates us from God, even a "little white lie".  Everyone has sinned, and no one is good enough to get to heaven on their own.

For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God; Romans 3:23

Getting into heaven is not based on whether our good outweighs our bad; we will all lose out if that is the case.  If we are saved by God's kindness, then it is not by our good works.  For in that case, God's wonderful kindness would not be what it really is - free and undeserved.

And if by grace, then is it no more of works: otherwise grace is no more grace. But if it be of works, then is it no more grace: otherwise work is no more work.  Romans 11:6

We can do nothing good to earn our way to heaven.

Not by works of righteousness which we have done, but according to his mercy he saved us, by the washing of regeneration, and renewing of the Holy Ghost; Titus 3:5

You can enter God's Kingdom only through the narrow gate.

The highway to hell is broad, and its gate is wide for the many who choose the way to destruction.

Enter ye in at the strait gate: for wide is the gate, and broad is the way, that leadeth to destruction, and many there be which go in thereat: Because strait is the gate, and narrow is the way, which leadeth unto life, and few there be that find it.  Matthew 7:13-14

Even if everyone around us is living a life of sin, and trusting in God is not popular, God will not excuse it.  Many don't realize that we used to live just like the rest of the world, full of sin, obeying Satan, the mighty prince of the power of the air.  But GOD, in His infinite mercy, made us alive through one and only one way.His Son Jesus.  We come to GOD, in faith, through Jesus and what He did.not what we did or do now.  We have nothing to brag about except Jesus!

And you hath he quickened, who were dead in trespasses and sins; Wherein in time past ye walked according to the course of this world, according to the prince of the power of the air, the spirit that now worketh in the children of disobedience: am ong whom also we all had our conversation in times past in the lusts of our flesh, fulfilling the desires of the flesh and of the mind; and were by nature the children of wrath, even as others. But God, who is rich in mercy, for his great love wherewith he loved us, even when we were dead in sins, hath quickened us together with Christ, (by grace ye are saved;) And hath raised us up together, and made us sit together in heavenly places in Christ Jesus: That in the ages to come he might shew the exceeding riches of his grace in his kindness toward us through Christ Jesus. For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: not of works, lest any man should boast.  Ephesians 2:1-9

When God created the world, it was perfect.  Everything was good.  Then he made Adam and Eve, and gave them their own free will, so they would have a choice whether to follow and obey God or not.  But Adam and Eve, the very first people God made, were tempted by Satan to disobey God, and they sinned. 

This separated them (and everyone that came after them, including us) from being able to have a close relationship with God.  He is perfect and cannot be surrounded by sin.  As sinners, we couldn't make it there on our own.  So, God made a way that we could be united with Him in heaven.

For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life. For God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through him might be saved.  John 3:16-17

For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.  Romans 6:23

Jesus was born so that He could teach us the way and die for our sins so that we would not have to.  Three days after His death, He rose from the grave, proving Himself victorious over death.

But for us also, to whom it shall be imputed, if we believe on him that raised up Jesus our Lord from the dead; who was delivered for our offences, and was raised again for our justification.  Romans 4:24-25

He bridged the gap between God and man so that we may have a personal relationship with Him and actually know Him, if we would only believe.

And this is life eternal, that they might know thee the only true God, and Jesus Christ, whom thou hast sent. John 17:3

Most people believe in GOD. but so does Satan.  To receive salvation, we must turn to GOD, form a personal relationship, turn away from our sins and follow him.  We must trust in Jesus with everything we have and everything we do.  We are made right in God's sight when we trust in Jesus Christ to take away our sins.  And we all can be saved in this way, no matter who we are or what we have done.

Even the righteousness of God which is by faith of Jesus Christ unto all and upon all them that believe: for there is no difference:  Romans 3:22

The Bible teaches that there is no other way to salvation than through Christ. 

Jesus is the only way of salvation because He is the only One who can pay our sin penalty. No other religion teaches the depth or seriousness of sin and its consequences.  No other religion offers the infinite payment of sin that only Jesus Christ could provide.  No other "religious founder" was God become man.

In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. The same was in the beginning with God. All things were made by him; and without him was not any thing made that was made. In him was life; and the life was the light of men. And the light shineth in darkness; and the darkness comprehended it not.  And the Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us, (and we beheld his glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father,) full of grace and truth.  John 1:1-5, 14

The only way an infinite debt could be paid would be if GOD paid the debt.  Jesus had to be God so that He could pay our debt.  Jesus had to be man so He could die.  Salvation is available only through faith in Jesus Christ! 

Neither is there salvation in any other: for there is none other name under heaven given among men, whereby we must be saved.  Acts 4:12

Tell the truth!  Speak the name of Jesus!  Open that can of worms with those around you!  People around you just might be pleasantly surprised at what comes out of the can.
