Vanity of vanities, saith the Preacher, vanity of vanities; all is vanity. What profit hath a man of all his labour which he taketh under the sun? One generation passeth away, and another generation cometh: but the earth abideth for ever. The sun also ariseth, and the sun goeth down, and hasteth to his place where he arose. The wind goeth toward the south, and turneth about unto the north; it whirleth about continually, and the wind returneth again according to his circuits. All the rivers run into the sea; yet the sea is not full; unto the place from whence the rivers come, thither they return again. All things are full of labour; man cannot utter it: the eye is not satisfied with seeing, nor the ear filled with hearing. The thing that hath been, it is that which shall be; and that which is done is that which shall be done: and there is no new thing under the sun. Is there any thing whereof it may be said, See, this is new? it hath been already of old time, which was before us. There is no remembrance of former things; neither shall there be any remembrance of things that are to come with those that shall come after. Ecclesiates 1:2-11
The wisest and richest man that every lived, King Solomon, recounts the emptiness inside his very soul in the scripture above. He had everything that was imaginable and he still was empty inside.
Do you feel empty? Is there something lacking? Do you long for something but don't quite know what it is? Are you longing for fulfillment? Are you unsatisfied with the daily routine of work, or school, or whatever? Maybe when you are by yourself and you look deep inside, you just don't feel content. Something is missing. Maybe you've discovered that indulging the desires of your flesh and mind have not produced the peace and tranquility that you need.
Many people are empty inside. People seek many things to replace God. Many try to identify with something, a cause, some type of philosophy, or even a particular look. Others look for their own identity to fill the emptiness. For a while those things can be entertaining and even exciting. But ultimately, the same emptiness comes back. Most people today are chasing something. Some finally realize that if they suddenly got everything that they wished they still would be unsatisfied. Do you want more than the same old thing? Do you want something that will not leave you with that empty feeling after a little while? Do you want something real? Maybe it's time for you to be satisfied by encountering GOD and finding the purpose that he has for you.
In His great mercy, God can touch you. In the midst of your sin, your running from Him, and/or your pursuit of fleshly desires, He can come to you and touch your heart. Emptiness will no longer be your companion. You can have peace, contentment, and fulfillment. You can have salvation and fellowship with God Almighty. This fellowship is found in Jesus.
God is faithful, by whom ye were called unto the fellowship of his Son Jesus Christ our Lord. 1 Corinthians 1:9
When you find Jesus and the salvation He offers, you discover your purpose and you find your hope fulfilled. The emptiness is gone.
So how do you get there? How do you find Jesus His fellowship and His salvation? You don't come to Jesus by joining a church, adopting a creed, or by believing in God. Just who is Jesus, in the first place?
Jesus is the most important figure in the history of mankind.
He is GOD in the flesh,
In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. And the Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us, (and we beheld his glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father,) full of grace and truth. John 1:1, 14
For in him dwelleth all the fulness of the Godhead bodily. Colossians 2:9
He was physically raised from the dead,
And when the sabbath was past, Mary Magdalene, and Mary the mother of James, and Salome, had bought sweet spices, that they might come and anoint him. And very early in the morning the first day of the week, they came unto the sepulchre at the rising of the sun. And they said among themselves, Who shall roll us away the stone from the door of the sepulchre? And when they looked, they saw that the stone was rolled away: for it was very great. And entering into the sepulchre, they saw a young man sitting on the right side, clothed in a long white garment; and they were affrighted. And he saith unto them, Be not affrighted: Ye seek Jesus of Nazareth, which was crucified: he is risen; he is not here: behold the place where they laid him. But go your way, tell his disciples and Peter that he goeth before you into Galilee: there shall ye see him, as he said unto you. Mark 16:1-7
Buried with him in baptism, wherein also ye are risen with him through the faith of the operation of God, who hath raised him from the dead. Colossians 2:12
And to wait for his Son from heaven, whom he raised from the dead, even Jesus, which delivered us from the wrath to come. 1 Thessalonians 1:10
Remember that Jesus Christ of the seed of David was raised from the dead according to my gospel: Titus 2:8
He is Lord and Savior...
The God of our fathers raised up Jesus, whom ye slew and hanged on a tree. Him hath God exalted with his right hand to be a Prince and a Saviour, for to give repentance to Israel, and forgiveness of sins. And we are his witnesses of these things; and so is also the Holy Ghost, whom God hath given to them that obey him. Acts 5:30-32
...and He came to earth to die for sinners and deliver people from the righteous wrath of GOD and bring them from the darkness to the light.
But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us. Romans 5:8
I am come a light into the world, that whosoever believeth on me should not abide in darkness. John 12:46
Are you one of those sinners? You know you are! Have you ever lied, stolen, lusted, coveted, or been angry with someone unjustly? If so, then you have broken the Law of GOD. He has given the standard of righteousness and if you have broken any of God's commandments then you have fallen short of that standard and are under the inevitable judgment of God. When you die you will face Him and on the Day of Judgment.
So. you don't like the way it is with GOD and His "rules". Well, then just throw away your Bible and turn away from Jesus. but before you do that, know this . the message of GOD's word, the Bible, is that Jesus came to die for sinners and to save them from the wrath to come. GOD is holy and righteous and He must deal with those who sin against Him. Whether you believe it or not we all sin. We all have sinned.
For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God; Romans 3:23
Wherefore, as by one man sin entered into the world, and death by sin; and so death passed upon all men, for that all have sinned: Romans 5:12
Jesus is the One you need. Him alone. Not your works, and good deeds. Not your sincerity. Not your goodness.
As it is written, There is none righteous, no, not one: There is none that understandeth, there is none that seeketh after God. They are all gone out of the way, they are together become unprofitable; there is none that doeth good, no, not one. Romans 3:10-12
But we are all as an unclean thing, and all our righteousnesses are as filthy rags; and we all do fade as a leaf; and our iniquities, like the wind, have taken us away. Isaiah 64: 6
Believe it or not, you have nothing to offer God except your sinfulness. It is only by the love and grace of God found in Jesus and His sacrifice that you can be delivered from the righteous wrath of God upon all who have broken His law.
On the Day of Judgment, God will judge all people for their sins against Him. He will judge all who have lied, stolen, cheated, lusted, dishonored their parents, and committed multitudes of other types and forms of sin. He will do this because He is holy and righteous. God must punish the sinner. God cannot and will not ignore the person who has broken His righteous law. The Law is a reflection of the character of God. Therefore, to break God's law is to offend God and deny the holiness of His character. He will be vindicated. He will judge. |
