UN to Produce Bullion Coins as World Currency

The announcement by the United Nations this week that it will license the minting of silver and gold bullion coins bearing the UN logo may be the button that launches metal prices into orbit.
In its wide-ranging report this fall, the UN Conference on Trade and Development (UNCTAD) stated that the system of currencies and international banking practices within today’s economies were inadequate, and responsible for the present economic crisis. The report advocates that the present monetary system, wherein the dollar acts as the global reserve currency be re-examined “with urgency”.
The UNCTAD Report was the first time a major multinational institution had forwarded such a suggestion or measure, although a number of countries, including Russia and Brazil have supported replacing the dollar as the world’s reserve currency. Concurrently, about five-hundred prophetically minded Christian’s fellowshipped at the annual 2009 Pre-Trib Rapture conference in Dallas, hosted by Dr. Tim Lahaye and Dr. Thomas Ice.

Jewish Immigration up 17pc in 2009

Jewish immigration to Israel increased in 2009 by 17 per cent compared to the previous year, the first rise in a decade, the government said on Sunday.
According to figures presented by the Jewish Agency, the government body in charge of immigration, 16,244 people immigrated to Israel in 2009, whereas 13,869 had moved to the Jewish state the previous year. “We’ve recorded this year, for the first time in ten years, an increase in the number of immigrants,” the agency’s Chairman Nathan Sharansky told reporters.
Nearly half of the immigrants arrived from former Soviet states, with the rest came mostly from North and South America and Europe. Jewish Agency figures also showed that 331 Jews arrived in 2009 from Muslim states, including Turkey, Morocco and Yemen.
More than three million Jews have immigrated to Israel since its creation in 1948 – including one million from former Soviet states since 1990 – under the Law of Return, which offers citizenship and benefits to Jews from anywhere in the world…more…

Readers should be aware of Eschatology Today’s four-part series entitled “The Prophetic Road to Revelation (hereafter TPRR for short).” I have added a new direct-link feature in the upper right-hand column to make access to the 5-part series that much easier.
In preparation of going forward into the year 2010 AD it became very apparent that while I’ve referenced the prophecy of Isaiah 17 on many items and comments within this blog, the overall significance of the prophecy has not been given the full exegesis in the TPRR series that it should have been given. In fact, I barely mentioned Isaiah 17 in TPRR Part III, but merely posted a link to the online BibleGateway.com NIV translation. I am now going to rectify that oversight.
The Hal Lindsey “War Imminent” video from May 2009 embedded above provides very a similar if not the same context as the TPRR series provides, yet Hal makes mention of a specific item that has become the focus of my own recent research into Isaiah 17. Hal speaks to the numbers of casualties in both Israel and Syria in the event of an all-out WMD war between them. I believe this is precisely one of the key prophetic insights of Isaiah 17…more…

China’s bold rise this decade took many forms. The Beijing Olympics. The billions of dollars loaned to the U.S. The rip-roaring economic growth.
And then there were the missing manhole covers.
Hundreds of them were stolen from streets around the world. The first reports came from Taiwan in 2003 and later London, where it was dubbed the “Great Drain Robbery.” Chicago had to replace at least 150 manhole lids or grates in 2005.
Thieves were selling them to shady scrap metal dealers, who were cashing in on China’s ravenous demand for steel for skyscrapers in Shanghai, Beijing and other cities. China’s construction boom was literally being felt on the streets around the world.
For China, that’s what made this decade different from the others. It was a time when the massive nation began to reshape the world in both basic and big ways.
