Pope to Israel: Give Your Land to the Arabs
www.thejerusalemgiftshop.com
Pope Benedict XVI Monday joined the international chorus that is demanding the Jews establish an Arab state on Israel’s land. The head of the Roman Catholic Church aired his plea within minutes of arriving at Ben Gurion Airport at the start of a five-day visit to “the Holy Land.”
Speaking in front of Israeli President Shimon Peres – who had just warmly welcomed him with the Hebrew words, “Blessed is he who comes” – and as Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu looked on, the pope called on “all those responsible to explore every possible avenue in the search for a just resolution of the outstanding difficulties, so that both peoples may live in peace in a homeland of their own within secure and internationally recognized borders.”
Benedict, who is regarded by 1.3 billion people on the planet as God’s representative on earth, was adding his voice to those of virtually every political leader in the world, all of whom are insisting that the Jews hand over the land that same God gave to their forefathers as an everlasting inheritance.
“The days are coming, declares the Lord, when I will bring my people Israel and Judah back from captivity and restore them to the land I gave their forefathers to possess, says the Lord”.
— Jeremiah 30:3
After nearly two decades of their predecessors’ failed and painful efforts to secure peace by doing precisely that, Israel’s new government has indicated its reluctance to comply.
Benedict’s stance, said The Jerusalem Post, immediately “put him at odds with his hosts on a trip aimed at easing strains between the Vatican and Jews.” …more…
King Abdullah in Mid-East Warning
news.bbc.co.uk
King Abdullah of Jordan has warned that failure to reach an agreement for peace in the Middle East will result in a new conflict within 12-18 months.
In comments to the UK newspaper The Times, he said the US was finalising an ambitious “57-state solution” for peace that he is helping to prepare. The king said the plan would include proposals to settle Israel’s disputes with Syria and Lebanon.
“If there are no clear signals and no clear directives to all of us, there will be a feeling that this is just another American government that is going to let us all down.”
He also warned that if Israel procrastinated on a two-state solution, or there was no clear US vision on what should happen this year, Mr Obama’s “tremendous credibility” in the Arab world would evaporate overnight.
A Growing Divergence Between Jerusalem and Washington

Despite the reassurances of Shimon Peres and of Foreign Ministry officials, American Middle Eastern policy under President Barack Obama may lead to US-Israeli tensions. However, the policy directions adopted by Washington have significance for American national interests and the defense of the free world that go far beyond the Washington-Jerusalem bilateral relationship. While as a superpower the US has large margins of error, we have to pray that its learning curve regarding international realities will be short.
Obama’s intention to “engage” countries like Iran and Syria in order to start a “new page” in bilateral relations strikes most Israelis and Mideast Arabs as naïve, as if nice words can change established national interests. Arabs, as well, as Israel, want to see Iran and its proxies rolled back, not appeased, by Washington.
US Secretary of State Hillary Clinton’s recent statement to the effect that Arab support for Israel’s bid to prevent the nuclearization of Iran requires Israeli flexibility on the Palestinian issue – is similarly worrisome. It is hard to believe that the State Department does not understand that…more…
Brace for Impact
bible-prophecy-today.blogspot.com
For over 60 years, the United States and Israel have had one the strongest relationships of two nations on earth. The ties that bind these two countries are cultural, military, economic, political, and ideological. Strongest among these are the political and military ties.
Another factor that has unified the U.S. and Israel is a common enemy: the Muslim world. There are dozens of Arab terrorist organizations, but they all sing the same chant: “Death to America; Death to Israel.”
Last November, the citizenry of our nation went to the polls and elected a president who lacked a strong commitment to Israel. Many of Barack Obama’s friends were known for their hatred of Israel. The first call he made to a foreign leader was to Palestinian President Abbas.
I expected that there would be a honeymoon period before things turned sour. Every new president tries to please everyone before finally choosing sides. We are now starting to see signs that the true Obama is starting to emerge…more…
When They Say Peace…
bible-prophecy-today.blogspot.com
The drumbeat for peace can be heard within the rumblings of strange changes that inflict convulsive crisis after crisis upon this troubled planet. Israel, just as Old and New Testament prophets foretold, is at the heart of the birth-like contractions that have to be deliberately ignored to be missed. Paul the apostle and prophet wrote under inspiration,
“For when they shall say, Peace and safety; then sudden destruction cometh upon them, as travail upon a woman with child; and they shall not escape” (1Thessalonians 5:3).
This prophecy, I’m convinced, is most relevant to this particular hour in these waning days of human history. I believe, as a matter of fact, that this and surrounding Scripture relates directly to the rapture of all believers in Jesus Christ. I will attempt to explain a bit further into this commentary. First, I want us to try to understand exactly where this generation is presently positioned on God’s prophetic timeline…more…
