Peace – The Mantra for 2010
bible-prophecy-today.blogspot.com
Peace is more than the absence of war in which blood is shed while weapons destroy and death tallies their toll. Peace is contentment, with prospects for a future free of worry that conflict will disrupt tranquility. There is neither contentment nor tranquility upon this fallen sphere.
Conflict is everywhere one looks. Unsettling issues assault the eyes and ears – the senses – of the world community. Anxieties and perplexities inundate societies and cultures, nations, and continents. The voices of humanity cry “Peace! Peace!” when there is no peace. As much as I would like to bring tidings of great joy – having just celebrated the birth of Christ – I cannot do so from the perspective of what is going on here on earth. The year 2010 just ahead looks bleak for a world of inhabitants who, by and large, reject the only One who can bring peace. The rejection portends the ascent of evil that is prophetically scheduled to grow worse, according to the apostle Paul:
“But evil men and seducers shall wax worse and worse, deceiving, and being deceived” (2 Timothy 3:13).
While seducers are on the scene in this generation at every level of human interaction, deadly conflict lurks just around the geopolitical corner in the region of planet earth foretold to be the host geographical area of man’s most horrific war. The Prince of Persia foments rage against God’s chosen nation, inciting the likes of Iran’s Islamic leadership to create weapons that can destroy Israel, thus hoping to derail God’s prophetic plan to install the King of all kings upon the throne of David…more…
Retired US General Promises An Airliner Will Be Downed Within 100 Days
www.infowars.com
A retired U.S. General has called for strip searches of all muslim men at airports and “threat-based” profiling, declaring that “in the next 30-100 days,” there is “very high probability a US airliner will come down.”
Retired Lt. Gen. Thomas McInerney made the comments on a Fox News broadcast over the weekend.
“We’ve got to go to more than just the normal process that they’re talking about now,” he said on Saturday.
“We have got to go to very, very strict screening and we’ve got to use profiling. And I mean, be very, very serious about the profiling. If you are an 18-28-year-old Muslim man, then you should be strip searched. If we don’t do that, there’s a very high probability that we’re gonna lose an airliner.”
As the Fox host pointed out that racial profiling would likely not be well received in the United States, McInerney replied, “I agree, that’s the problem.”
“It is not racial profiling,” he added. “It is profiling just like the Israelis do. Let’s use the same procedures that the Israelis do.”
“If you lose 300 Americans, and then people are gonna say ‘Why didn’t we do this?’” the General turned military analyst stated…more…
2012: End of the World
bible-prophecy-today.blogspot.com
I think it is clear that all the 2012 hysteria is unfounded. But would it be accurate to say that even if the 2012 date is wrong, we could very well be near the end of the world?
Well, that all depends on what is meant by “the end of the world.” The only reliable source of information about the future is the Bible. We know it is reliable because it contains hundreds of very specific prophecies about persons, cities, and nations that have already been fulfilled in history. It also contains 109 specific prophecies about the Messiah that were fulfilled in the life of Jesus of Nazareth.23
The Bible prophesies the end of the current age, the end of the current world system, and the end of the natural world as we know it today. But it never prophesies the end of the world in the sense that the universe will cease to exist. In fact, it clearly states that planet earth will exist forever. Let’s consider each of these in order.
The End of the Current Age
The Bible teaches that Mankind entered a whole new age on the Day of Pentecost in approximately 30 AD.24 On that day the Holy Spirit fell upon the Apostles and they were empowered to preach the Gospel (Acts 2:1-4). Peter preached the first Gospel sermon, and the Church was established when three thousand people responded and accepted Jesus as their Messiah (Acts 2:14-41). We have been living in the Church Age ever since…more…
Hamas Will Fight Alongside Hezbollah in Next War
www.presstv.ir
The Hamas political representative in Lebanon says the Palestinian resistance group will fight alongside Hezbollah should Israel launch a new offensive against Lebanon.
“We are guests in Lebanon and our policy will not change,” Ali Baraka said during a memorial service held on Sunday to mark one week since the death of two Hamas members in an explosion in Beirut’s southern suburbs.
“However, we are committed to resisting against Israeli occupation forces,” he added.
“Israel should know that if it launches a new attack against Lebanon, we will not stand handcuffed. We will face the aggression side by side with our brethren in Lebanon — be they the resistance, the army, or the people, to repel the aggression,” Baraka stated.
In July 2006, Hezbollah resistance forces fired on an Israeli patrol in the border area, killing three Israeli soldiers and capturing two of them. Israel responded by bombarding parts of southern and eastern Lebanon, then widened the bombing campaign to cover most of Lebanon in what became a 33-day all-out war between Hezbollah and Israel. Hezbollah retaliated with intense, daily missile barrages at northern Israel and as far south as Haifa…more…
Recent Change of Atmosphere May Mean Time is Ripe For Talks
www.jpost.com
Peace talks with the Palestinians must resume without preconditions, Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu said Monday.
Speaking at the opening of the Likud faction meeting, Netanyahu said, “My impression is that in recent weeks, there has been a change of atmosphere. I hope that the time is now ripe to move the peace process forward.”
He stated that preconditions had wasted precious time which could have been spent negotiating a real agreement, rather than a framework for talks. “I believe that negotiations about the nature of negotiations have delayed the process enough and should be dropped,” he said.
Netanyahu stressed that since the formation of the government in early 2009, he had “called for a resumption of negotiations with the Palestinians without prior conditions.”
The prime minister went on to say, “I wish for the resumption of talks without preconditions… in which both sides can express their views… and I will insist on maintaining our national interests.”
The prime minister also addressed earlier reports of a US peace initiative that could result in a Palestinian state in two years’ time. “I see in the media certain viewpoints, plans and border lines that have been attributed to me. There is no truth in this. I want to clarify that my views have not changed,” he said.
Also responding to the US plan, Foreign Minister Avigdor Lieberman asserted Monday that a final status arrangement with the Palestinians could not be reached in the near future.
Speaking during a meeting with Quartet Middle East envoy Tony Blair, Lieberman said, “It will not be possible to reach an arrangement on final borders within nine months, nor a complete final status arrangement within two years… This is an unrealistic date.” …more…
