Winking at Sin
bible-prophecy-today.blogspot.com
In the past century, the world has faced many dangers. In the 1930s, the global economy seemed hopelessly broken. In the 1940s, Hitler and Japan were going to take over the world. During the Cold War days, we feared a nuclear attack from the Reds. In the new century, the fear of radical Islam has become a major concern.
I think the greatest danger facing us is the simple inability to blush at sin. We have reached a point where people have absolutely no shame about their immoral lifestyles. We may have dodged all these other calamities in the past, but there is no escaping the consequences of unchecked immorality.
Years ago, it would have been a career-ending event for a popular entertainer to be arrested for any major crime. Today, celebrities are constantly in the headlines for some devious vice, and are given the cheeky titles of “bad boy” or “bad girl.” Actor Charlie Sheen is one example. He has been in trouble for everything from drugs to domestic violence. One woman he was once dating mysteriously was shot in the arm. Despite all these troubles, Sheen remains the main star of the top-rated show, Two and a Half Men…more…
Hizbullah Planting Iranian, Syrian-Made Bombs Near Israeli Border
www.worldtribune.com
Hizbullah has been planting Iranian and Syrian mines and munitions along the border with Israel, a report said
A report by an Israeli government-financed center asserted that the Iranian-sponsored Hizbullah has planted huge bombs along the border with Israel. The Intelligence and Terrorism Information Center said the bombs were believed to have been produced in Iran and Syria.
“An initial investigation showed that they were not improvised devices but rather advanced, standard, industrially mass-produced bombs — in our assessment, manufactured in Iran or Syria,” the report said.
The bombs were found by a United Nations peace-keeping patrol on Dec. 26 near the Shi’ite village of Khiyam, about one kilometer from the Israeli border. Five people, believed to have been Hizbullah operatives, were said to have fled the scene.
“Searches conducted by UNIFIL forces and the Lebanese Army, which also arrived at the scene, revealed a number of explosive pits containing dozens of improvised explosive devices of various types, weighing a total of about 300 kilograms,” the report said…more…
Glick to Temple Mount Under Auspices of High Court
www.israelnationalnews.com
Yehuda Glick, the former CEO of the Temple Institute, was allowed to enter the Temple Mount for the first time in seven months Sunday following the court order requiring that the police allow him to do so. The police have been denying Glick’s right to enter holy place by claiming that it will cause the Arabs to riot.
Sunday morning, the first day that Glick was permitted to enter the Temple Mount, is also his daughter Avital’s wedding day. Earlier in the morning, Glick and his daughter drove from their home in Otniel, in the southern Hevron Hills, to Hevron, where they prayed together in the Cave of the Patriarchs. From there they continued to Jerusalem and the Temple Mount…more…
Which Jesus
bible-prophecy-today.blogspot.com
In the same week, Britt Hume of Fox News had the audacity to evoke the name of Jesus Christ as a means of restoration for Tiger Woods and Pastor Joel Osteen evoked His name in blessing an activist lesbian as she was inaugurated as mayor of his city and while C-Span broadcast it nationwide. The first is being vilified, the second adored.
Are they both talking about the same Jesus? Does Jesus both restore sinners and bless sin? My Bible says very clearly that the first is central to His coming and the second is utterly incompatible.
Exhibit 1: Excerpt from Joel Osteen’s prayer at openly lesbian Mayor Annise Parker’s Inauguration:
… We ask that everything we do would bring honor to you … and we just lift up especially Mayor Annise Parker. … Lord, we thank you just for raising her up and just for your goodness, your mercy in her life, and just for supernatural wisdom, Father. We honor her today and our other officials, and Lord, we count it a joy and honor to be here in your presence with all of our friends and we just thank you for this day. In Jesus name, amen.
We are certainly to pray for those in authority as per the God’s instructions through the Apostle Paul to Timothy (1 Tim. 1:1-6):
First of all, then, I urge that entreaties and prayers, petitions and thanksgivings, be made on behalf of all men, for kings and all who are in authority , so that we may lead a tranquil and quiet life in all godliness and dignity . This is good and acceptable in the sight of God our Savior, who desires all men to be saved and to come to the knowledge of the truth. For there is one God, and one mediator also between God and men, the man Christ Jesus, who gave Himself as a ransom for all, the testimony given at the proper time.
Every pastor I have heard from agrees Joel crossed the line in declaring that God “raised up” a mayor who denies Him, mocks him through her life and represents a complete perversion of His creation and created order – then thanking Him for doing so. Did God raise up Barack Hussein Obama, Nancy Pelosi, Harry Reid, etc. as well? Proverbs 16:4 tells us that God makes even the wicked for the “day of evil.” …more…
Push to Make Same-Sex Marriage Law of the Land Hits Fast Track
www.humanevents.com
The push to make same-sex marriage the law of the land hits the fast track this week as the Perry v. Schwarzenegger trial starts today in San Francisco.
Supporters of same-sex marriage are already comparing Perry to the Brown v. Board of Education, the landmark 1954 civil-rights case. To opponents, however, it’s starting to feel like the second coming of Roe v. Wade.
The federal lawsuit challenges the constitutionality of Proposition 8, the 2008 state ballot measure affirming that marriage is between one man and one woman. Proposition 8 passed with 52 percent of the vote, nullifying a California Supreme Court decision in May 2008 legalizing gay marriage.
The trial’s implications for marriage are enormous. If U.S. District Court Chief Judge Vaughn Walker declares that Proposition 8 violates the constitution, not only will same-sex marriage become law in California, but traditional marriage laws in every state will be vulnerable to federal legal challenges.
Even though the trial is expected to last three weeks, Proposition 8 proponents were bracing themselves for defeat even before the crack of the first gavel.
“We do not expect to win at the trial level,” said Brian Brown, executive director of the National Organization for Marriage, in his weekly update to the group’s membership…more…
