MK Danny Danon (Likud) visited the Jerusalem neighborhood of Ramat Shlomo Wednesday and toured the site where 1,600 housing units are to be built. The construction plans – long planned but newly announced – raised the ire of US Vice President Joe Biden, who is on a visit to Israel.
“Construction in Jerusalem is squarely at the heart of the Israeli consensus and is unshakeable,” Danon said. “Our right to build in Jerusalem, the eternal capital of the Jewish people, does not depend upon the time, or upon the events of a particular day.”
He stated: “I turn to [United States] President [Barack] Obama and to Vice President [Joe] Biden and say – hands off Jerusalem! Do not interfere in the matter of Jerusalem. The Jewish Nation has a right to this city. [Prime Minister Binyamin] Netanyahu said clearly that on the subject of Jerusalem there will be no compromises and no freezes. Your pressure is useless.”
“There is no proper timing for building in Jerusalem,” he added. “There is no right day or wrong day for building in Jerusalem. Just as construction is approved on a daily basis in Tel Aviv and Haifa, so are things in Jerusalem.”
Christian College Prof Encourages ‘Gay Identity’

A conservative activist is asking a Christian college in Pennsylvania whether it supports the “sexual identity therapy” of one of its professors who is unwilling to discourage some of his clients from remaining in the homosexual lifestyle.
Dr. Warren Throckmorton of Grove City College was once a spokesperson for the ex-”gay” group PFOX (Parents and Friends of Gays and Ex-Gays) and produced a documentary titled I Do Exist, which highlighted the testimonies of former homosexuals who chose to leave that lifestyle.
But now Throckmorton is encouraging some clients to maintain their “gay identity,” even though it is at odds with scripture. In a paper he co-authored with Regent University’s Mark Yarhouse titled Sexual Identity Therapy: Practice Guidelines for Sexual Identity Conflicts, Throckmorton writes that “the emergence of a gay identity for persons struggling with religious conflicts is a possibility envisioned by the recommendations.”
The professor also states his therapy “respects” that “some religious individuals will determine that their religious beliefs may become modified to allow integration of same-sex eroticism within their valued identity.”

In Brian McLaren’s latest book, A New Kind of Christianity, the reader is cordially invited to join the author in a heretical assault upon God and the Bible. Indeed, as McLaren enthusiastically demonstrates, it is not possible to attack one without attacking the other.
Acknowledging the work of fellow emergent travelers such as Phyllis Tickle, Tony Jones, and Doug Pagitt, McLaren tells us “something is trying to be born among those of us who follow Jesus Christ.” (pg.13) In fact, writes McLaren, “what is trying to be born today echoes the Great Reformation in many ways.” (pg.257)
But does McLaren’s paradigm vision really echo the Great Reformation? From the Reformation came the freedom of Sola Scriptura—the Word of God alone. The chains of a false religion were cast off. From the Reformation came men and women who were willing to die for the right to believe and proclaim Truth.
What does McLaren’s “reformation” offer? An errant eschatology. A New Age “christ.” The ascent of homospirituality into the temple. (2 Kings 23: 7) All made possible, of course, through creative misinterpretation of God’s Word. The author has brought us his Great Deformation, a theology that plays to the flesh even while being portrayed as a spiritual journey.
One of the major themes in A New Kind of Christianity, homosexuality, cleverly defines Christians who speak out against the homosexual lifestyle as suffering from “fundasexuality.” (Pg.174-5) However, you are only a “fundasexualist” if you speak out loudly against this sin.
McLaren decrees, “The term does not apply to the quiet, pious, respectful fundamentalism of straightforward, sincere people, but rather to the organizing, angry, dominating fundamentalism that declares war on those who differ.”

Highest rates found among blacks, women
About 16 percent of Americans between the ages of 14 and 49 are infected with genital herpes, making it one of the most common sexually transmitted diseases, U.S. health officials said on Tuesday.
Black women had the highest rate of infection at 48 percent and women were nearly twice likely as men to be infected, according to an analysis by the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.
About 21 percent of women were infected with genital herpes, compared to only 11.5 percent of men, while 39 percent of blacks were infected compared to about 12 percent for whites, the CDC said.
There is no cure for genital herpes, or herpes simplex virus type 2 (HSV-2), which can cause recurrent and painful genital sores and also increases the likelihood of acquiring and transmitting the AIDS virus. It is related to herpes simplex virus 1, or oral herpes, which causes cold sores.
Several drugs are available to treat herpes symptoms and outbreaks, including acyclovir, which is available generically or under the Zovirax brand name, and valacyclovir, known generically as Valtrex — both made by GlaxoSmithKline PLC (GSK.L). Ganciclovir, sold as Zirgan, is made by privately-held Sirion Therapeutics, Inc.
The CDC estimates that more than 80 percent of people with genital herpes do not know they are infected.
“The message is herpes is quite common. The symptoms can be often very innocuous,” Dr. John Douglas of the CDC said in a teleconference.
“Because herpes is so prevalent it becomes … a really important reason to use condoms on a consistent and correct basis with all of your partners,” Douglas said.

Direct Israeli-Palestinian Talks to Start Next Week in Washington

The delegations will be headed by Israeli prime minister’s adviser Yitzhak Molcho and senior Palestinian negotiator Saeb Erekat. debkafile’s Middle East sources disclose that Special US Middle East Envoy George Mitchell notified Israeli prime minister Binyamin Netanyahu and Palestinian Authority chairman Mahmoud Abbas Monday, March 8, that his mission on behalf of president Barack Obama was to get direct peace talks started without delay at a venue near Washington. The US president, he said, was out of patience with the two sides’ objections, gripes and maneuvers.
According to our Washington sources, administration officials were charged with finding a location around the US capital isolated enough for Israel and Israeli negotiators to talk in private. They recommended the 11th Wing’s facility at Bolling Air Force base, which best answered the White House’s request for a venue where the Israeli and Palestinian delegations could be kept out of reach of US, Israeli and Palestinian media, so that Mitchell could act as the negotiations sole spokesman.
The US envoy’s immediate plan now is to ensconce the two delegations for a couple of days in separate rooms at a place in Israel still to be selected to preserve the semblance of indirect talks. After that, they will be transferred to Washington early next week.

In the previous installment of this “Ark of the Covenant” series, we looked at the main theories as to where the Ark is today. In this final installment, we’ll look to see if the Ark has any future role.
The Forgotten Ark
Regardless of what happened to the Ark, the Scriptures suggest that it will never be found again. This comes as quite a shock to some Christians who have assumed that the Ark must be found before the Tribulation Temple can be built and animal sacrifice re-instituted. Others have simply assumed that the Ark would be replaced in the Holy of Holies when the Lord’s Millennial Temple is built.
But Jeremiah says point blank that “the ark of the covenant of the Lord… shall not come to mind, nor shall they remember it, nor shall they miss it, nor shall it be made again” (Jeremiah 3:16). The context of this passage is the Millennial reign of Jesus, so it does not rule out the possibility of a discovery prior to that time. Conceivably, the Ark could be discovered, and Satan could use its discovery to incite the rebuilding of a Temple where an apostate sacrificial system would be re-instituted. We know that such a Temple will be built, but I doubt if its construction will be motivated by the discovery of the Ark…more…
Israel in Final Stages of Planning Strike on Iran

Israeli Chief of Staff Gen. Gabi Ashkenazi is in the US. There are speculations that Israel is gearing up for a military strike on Iran’s nuclear facilities.
Ashkenazi will hold numerous meetings with top US political and military officials while in Washington. Last week it was reported that Israel had begun practicing rapid refueling, the type of which would only be used in a sustained aerial attack on a distant enemy.
That news corresponded with reports that Iran would have to move its uranium stockpile to less secure facilities in order to conduct planned enrichment, and that the Islamic Republic had nearly completed work on a massive missile launch site.
IHS Jane’s, a respected international defense journal, reported on Friday that the new launch site east of Tehran can be easily seen in satellite imagery, and is clearly large enough to launch Iran’s newly-introducted Simorgh missile.
The Simorgh is ostensibly a space-launch vehicle (SLV), but Israeli experts have noted that it could easily be converted into a long-range ballistic missile capable of carrying nuclear warheads. Jane’s believes that North Korea aided Iran in the construction of the new launch site…more…
N Korea Says Ready to ‘Blow up’ SKorea, US

North Korea’s army said Monday it is ready to “blow up” South Korea and the U.S., hours after the allies kicked off annual military drills that Pyongyang has slammed as a rehearsal for attack.
South Korea and the U.S. – which normally dismiss such threats as rhetoric – began 11 days of drills across South Korea on Monday morning to rehearse how the U.S. would deploy in time of emergency on the Korean peninsula.
The U.S. and South Korea argue the drills – which include live firing by U.S. Marines, aerial attack drills and urban warfare training – are purely defensive. North Korea claims they amount to attack preparations and has demanded they be canceled.

Dire Warning: Israel Must Strike Iran Now

The only action that can stop Iran from building nuclear weapons is an Israeli strike on Tehran’s nuclear facilities, argued John Bolton, the former U.S. ambassador to the U.N. under the Bush administration.
Speaking in a radio interview with WND senior reporter Aaron Klein, who hosts an investigative program on New York’s WABC 770 AM, Bolton warned time is running out for an Israeli attack.
“Right now we know about the facilities. … We know where they are,” he said. “We know exactly what their dimensions are, and I think they are susceptible to an Israeli attack.”
Bolton said an Israeli military option “isn’t there forever. … If Israel is going to use military force, it needs to use it sooner rather than later.”
Bolton posited, “Right now, basically the only scenario that I see other than Iran getting nuclear weapons is military strikes against their nuclear program that result in breaking Iran’s control over the nuclear fuel cycle.”
Continued Bolton: “Since I don’t see any possibility that the Obama administration will use military force, I think what that means – to cut to the chase – is this comes down to a decision by Israel whether or not it will use military force against Iran’s program.”

I believe the bountiful abundance of wealth and physical security described in Ezekiel 38/39 constitutes a fulfillment of the blessing of obedience promised to Israel by the LORD in Deuteronomy 28:1-12.
Although Israel has not become fully obedient to the Lord, the process and ultimate appointment on the day when Israel becomes obedient are has been underway in the land since May 1948. I believe we are living in the closing decade of that process and imminent fulfillment of the prophecies which will manifest it in the very near future.
Achieving this blessing will promote Israel to the status of a global “superpower,” meaning a nation “capable of influencing international events and the acts and policies of less powerful nations.” This, in essence, is what Deuteronomy 28:1-12 describes for Israel in the near future and Ezekiel 38/39 confirms.
As discussed throughout the thirteen month existence of this Eschatology Today blog, the imminent prophetic events to be fulfilled as predicted in Isaiah 17, Psalm 83 and Zechariah 9, along with the associated prophetic templates found in Joshua 13, Judges 4, Judges 5, 1 Kings 5, 1 Kings 18, and still other prophetic passages which have yet to be cited, constitute the ever increasing imminence of their fulfillment as is currently being noted in both the faithful and the secular world.

Ark of the Covenant: Present Location

In the previous installment of this “Ark of the Covenant” series, we looked at the Ark’s history in the Bible. Today, we’ll look at the main theories as to where the Ark is today.
The Lost Ark
No one knows for sure what happened to the Ark. The last time it is mentioned in Scripture is in 2 Chronicles 35:3. That passage makes it clear that the Ark was still in existence at the time of the spiritual revival led by the boy king, Josiah. Within 22 years after Josiah died, Judah fell to the Babylonians (586 B.C.), and the Ark disappeared.
The majority of scholars believe it was simply destroyed when the Temple was burned. Others believe it was captured as a prize of war, taken to Babylon, and probably melted down for its gold. But many believe it survived and is hidden somewhere today.
The Destruction Theory
Those who believe the Ark was lost when the Babylonians conquered Jerusalem and destroyed the Temple point to 2 Kings 24:13 and the parallel passage in 2 Chronicles 36:18. Both assert that “all the articles of the house of God, great and small, and the treasures of the house of the Lord” were taken to Babylon. But the Jewish sages have always argued that King Solomon anticipated attacks on Jerusalem and the Temple and that he therefore constructed a vault for the Ark that was located deep within the Temple Mount and protected by mazes and false passageways…more…

Internal Security Minister Yitzhak Aharonovitch arrived at the Temple Mount on Friday afternoon and accused Hamas and the Islamic Movement’s northern branch of igniting riots in Jerusalem’s Old City and its surroundings earlier in the day.
Some 60 Palestinians and 20 policemen were injured in violent clashes between the security forces and the worshippers.
The riots spread to other areas in the capital as well. Some 20 youths from east Jerusalem threw stones at the security forces in the Old City’s Muslim Quarter. Twenty other youths hurled stones at police and Border Guard officers in the Arab neighborhood of Ras al-Amud. Stones were also thrown at the entrance to the village of Issawiya. Three suspects were arrested.
Clashes in West Bank as well
Additional clashes took place during other protests in the West Bank. Some 50 people hurled stones at the security forces near the village of Dir Nizam, northwest of Ramallah.
Nearby, in Nabi Saleh, Palestinians reported that a youth was badly injured in the head by a rubber bullet. The boy was hurt over the eye and rushed unconscious to the hospital in the Palestinian town of Salfit.
Protestors reported that the boy was hurt from shots fired by soldiers stationed on a roof at the edge of the village. According to the Palestinians, five additional protestors were injured in the area, one of them a woman hit by a gas grenade projector and four others who were hurt by rubber bullets…more…
