The Middle East Quartet Tells Israel How to Live in Its Capital City of Jerusalem

At a meeting in Moscow of the Middle East Quartet which is made up of the United States, the European Union, Russia, and the United Nations, the Secretary-General of the United Nations, Ban Ki-moon, told Israel to stop all kinds of building in its capital city of Jerusalem and Israel must do this now because it is undermining the peace process in the Middle East. Israel recently announced the building of 1600 new housing units in Jerusalem and world leaders have reacted very harshly to the Israeli announcement and the Quartet wants talks immediately with a Palestinian state within the next two years.
The Quartet also wants all settlement construction stopped even including natural growth and they want Israel to dismantle all buildings that have erected since March of 2001.

Why has President Barak Obama decided to foment a crisis in US relations with Israel?
Some commentators have claimed that it is Israel’s fault. As they tell it, the news that Israel has not banned Jewish construction in Jerusalem – after repeatedly refusing to ban such construction – drove Obama into a fit of uncontrolled rage from which he has yet to recover.
While popular, this claim makes no sense. Obama didn’t come to be called “No drama Obama” for nothing. It is not credible to argue that Jerusalem’s local planning board’s decision to approve the construction of 1,600 housing units in Ramat Shlomo drove cool Obama into a fit of wild rage at Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu.
Obama himself claims that he has launched a political war against Israel in the interest of promoting peace. But this claim, too, does not stand up to scrutiny.
On Friday, Obama ordered Secretary of State Hillary Clinton to present Netanyahu with a four-part ultimatum.
First, Israel must cancel the approval of the housing units in Ramat Shlomo.
Second, Israel must prohibit all construction for Jews in Jerusalem neighborhoods built since 1967.
Third, Israel must make a gesture to the Palestinians to show them we want peace. The US suggests releasing hundreds of Palestinian terrorists from Israeli prisons.

That theme, proclaimed from a poster welcoming women to the June 1995 celebration called “Women and the United Nations,” echoed the hope of feminists around the world. Picturing a circle of dancing women, it introduced a new art exhibit which showed “women of all nations celebrating the strengths, diversity and shared experiences of all women.”
It didn’t take long to see that the “shared experiences of all women” was pain and oppression. Pictures of sad, angry, contorted, and naked women lined the long bayfront hallway leading to the San Francisco auditorium where women were gathering to discuss the coming United Nations Fourth World Conference on Women. Matching the theme, an oversized collage featured a nude goddess with hands reaching out to a turbulent, hurting world. Dark faces crying out in agony surrounded her long surrealistic yellow body.
Only a few pictures offered hope. A nude pastel-colored woman symbolized the UN’s solution to pain: a worldwide change in consciousness causing humanity to see itself as one united people, speaking with one voice, and “thinking in common… so that the experience of the mass is behind the simple voice.”
If the UN has its way, that simple, collective voice would be forced to speak its ideology. Speaker Nancy Pelosi is about to wave her magic wand and socialize a major portion of the U.S. economy in violation of the Constitution.
House Republican Chairman Greg Walden says that Americans are now witnessing the “slaughtering of democracy.”
“Slaughtering” is a reference to Louise Slaughter (D-NY) who has come up with a scheme to package the Senate version of ObamaCare and the House Reconciliation Bill into one measure that can be enacted into law without a single “yea’ or “nay” from an elected official.
The waving of the wand is set to occur on Sunday night.
The Traditional Values Coalition warns that Mrs. Pelosi’s magical act will oblige all Americans to purchase Obama government-run health care and will produce the following consequences:
· This government takeover of health care will affect 100% of Americans – born and unborn – for generations to come. Mrs. Pelosi revealed that a package of amendments to the Senate-passed health care bill would include a new tax on unearned income. Pelosi said this tax would cover all unearned income, “whatever category that is.”
· Obama and Pelosi have intentionally deceived the American people about taxpayer-funding of abortion. It is a fact that this bill authorizes an unprecedented, profound and alarming increase of tax money for other people’s abortions – the largest increase of government-funded abortion since Roe v. Wade. Is this what you want?
· The Constitution will be deemed null and void since a precedent will be set for legislation to be approved without a single vote from a Congressman or Senator under the so-called “Slaughter Rule.” Article I, Sec. 7 of the Constitution requires that for a bill to become law it must be voted on by both chambers of Congress and then sent to the President who signs into law or vetoes it. The section states:
“Every bill which shall have passed the House of Representatives and the Senate, shall, before it become a law, be presented to the President of the United States; if he approve he shall sign it, but if not he shall return it, with his objections to that House in which it shall have originated, who shall enter the objections at large on their journal, and proceed to reconsider it. Gaza Rocket Strikes South Israel For Fifth Time in 24 Hours

A rocket fired by Palestinian militants in the Gaza Strip struck the western Negev on Friday, for the fifth time in 24 hours.
Israel Air Force air craft struck at least six targets in the Gaza Strip befire daFriday a day after a rocket fired from the Palestinian enclave killed a Thai worker in southern Israel, Hamas security officials and witnesses said.
Two civilians were injured in one of three attacks on smuggling tunnels along the border with Egypt. The other targets included two open areas in Khan Younis and a metal foundry near Gaza City.
The Israeli military had no immediate comment.
Vice Premier Silvan Shalom had said on Thursday Israel would make a strong response to what was the first deadly rocket fire from Hamas-ruled Gaza at Israel in more than a year.
Israel also sent a letter of complaint to UN Secretary General Ban Ki-moon, who is due to visit Israel at the weekend, and the UN Security Council.
Israel’s UN Ambassador Gabriela Shalev urged Ban to call for the release of Israeli soldier Gilad Shalit, captured by Gaza militants in 2006. Hamas has demanded Israel free hundreds of the thousands of militants in its jails in exchange for the soldier.
A previously unknown group, Ansar al-Sunna, believed to share the hardline ideology of al Qaeda, claimed responsibility for the rocket fire at Israel, as well as the Al-Aqsa Martrys Brigades, a wing of the mainstream Fatah movement.

Episcopal Church Approves Ordination of Openly Gay Bishop in Los Angeles

The Episcopal Church gave final approval Wednesday to the ordination of an openly gay bishop in Los Angeles, putting a face behind a policy that has divided the church and caused some of its more conservative members to break away.
Mary Glasspool is the first openly gay bishop approved since 2003, when the election of a gay man as bishop of New Hampshire caused such an uproar that the U.S. church, under pressure from other members of the global Anglican Communion, imposed a moratorium on such elevations. The ban was lifted last year.
Glasspool is also one of the first two women to be elected as bishops in the 114-year history of the Los Angeles diocese. The other, Diane M. Jardine Bruce, won final approval March 8.
“I’m overjoyed,” Glasspool said in a phone interview from Baltimore, where she is canon, or senior assistant, to the bishop of Maryland. “It’s time to celebrate. . . . I know there are people who might not be overjoyed by this, and I am committed to reaching out with my own hand and my own heart to people who might not feel the same as I do.”…more…
Presbyterians Call For the End of Israel

American Jewish leaders are condemning a report by the Presbyterian Church USA that blames Israel for the “Palestinian resistance” and denounces companies that conduct business with Israel.
The Jewish Council for Public Affairs (JCPA) say the Presbyterian report reduces the Israeli-Palestinian conflict to a caricature, demonizes Israel, and demands the creation of a Palestinian state.
“It’s a highly-selective use of text, history and circumstances to form an anti-Israel narrative,” says JCPA vice president Ethan Felson.
The 172-page report, written by the Presbyterian Church’s Middle East Study Committee, charges the US government with “complicity in the Israeli occupation” and suggests that the government consider withholding aid to Israel until it agrees to stop building settlements. It singles out the U.S. firm Caterpillar, which manufactures construction equipment, for its “continued profit-making from non-peaceful use of its products.”
The report also endorses the Kairos Palestine document, a manifesto by Christian Palestinians that calls for an end to Israel as a Jewish state and uses words like “evil” and “sin” to describe Israeli actions…more…

Abu Ala, former Palestinian prime minister and peace negotiator with the Olmert government, and Hatem Abdul Qader, head of the Jerusalem desk in the Palestinian Authority in Ramallah, said the Day of Rage must be the opening shot for a fresh uprising (intifada) against Israel.
In rabid anti-Semitic diatribes, they are again accusing “the Jews” of “plotting to seize al Aqsa” in order to build their Third Temple and at the same time, deny all Jewish claims of an ancestral connection to Jerusalem “as one big lie” for the purpose of rewriting Muslim history.
There never was a Hurva (Ruin) Synagogue in the Old City, say these Fatah spokesmen, referring to the 300-old synagogue, rebuilt and rededicated Monday, March 15, on the ruins of the Jewish house of worship and community center the Jordanians destroyed during their 19-year presence in the Old City up until 1967. The structure was rebuilt stone by stone according to the photos and plans of the old building.

Thinking on the portentous date this commentary is posted, my ponderings gravitated naturally toward Julius Caesar’s fate. The Roman dictator was, of course, assassinated by those closest to him on March 15, 44 B.C., after having been forewarned, according to Shakespeare’s literary treatment of the story, to “beware the Ides of March.”
Remembering Caesar and the reasons for his murder made me think of God’s prophetic Word on the future Caesar of the revived Roman Empire. He will be planet earth’s final tyrant – the Antichrist. We have considered in these columns many times the movement toward his biblically predicted ascension to power. That movement continues in many areas of today’s world, both major developments and the less conspicuous.

A 6-magnitude earthquake was detected Monday offshore of quake- and aftershock-ravaged Chile, the U.S. Geological Survey reported.
The temblor’s epicenter was offshore of Bio-Bio, Chile, about 67 miles north of Concepcion, which sustained heavy damage in 8.8-magnitude earthquake in February, and about 221 miles southwest of Chile’s capital of Santiago, the USGS said.
The earthquake was about six miles deep, the survey said. Since the Feb. 27 quake, aftershocks, some at least 6-magnitude in strength, have rocked Chile.

The Zionist Israel will not give up East Jerusalem, without getting something in the bargain. The state of Israel will have to be offered a peace deal that Jews can live with. Now the Papist Tony Blair will be the mediator of a new covenant, that is not based on the truth. East Jerusalem will not come under Islamic control, alone. The International community will be responsible for a new International Zone. A new Quartet promoted body will govern East Jerusalem, and secure that all the three major World faiths will get access to their Holy sites. The Temple Mount will be made into an International temple of all faiths, and the UN will establish an International peace center in East Jerusalem.
This will be a compromise that both Jews and Arabs can live with, for the sake of peace.

‘Israel should be careful’
Former envoy stresses Israel’s dependence on US, says ball in Netanyahu’s court. Former US Ambassador to Israel Martin S. Indyk told Channel 2 Monday that while he didn’t agree with Israeli envoy Michael Oren’s assessment that the crisis was the worst since 1975, it was heading in that direction.
Indyk warned Israel to take more care in the way it treats its longtime ally, and said the ball was now “in [Prime Minister Binyamin] Netanyahu’s court.”
“People should understand that an accumulation of these kinds of incidents has being going on a long time,” he said, referring to Israel’s announcement of the planned expansion of east Jerusalem’s Ramat Shlomo during US Vice President Joe Biden’s visit last week. “It’s really important to find a way to prevent those that don’t want see this peace process move forward.”
He denied that the current tensions were due to a Netanyahu-Obama personality clash.
“States act according to interests and governments act according to policies. Personalities play a role but we shouldn’t exaggerate it,” he said. “Israel talks about chemistry as if it’s all that matters…A close, fuzzy relationship is not critical. What is, though, is whether the two sides can reach understandings now about moving forward together.”
Indyk warned that Israel has to be careful since it was so dependent on the US, and that Israelis “shouldn’t think they’re such big shots” in this respect.
“People should not fear a fundamental break in the relationship, but because Israel is dependent on the US, when it comes to us they must be careful about things and must not insult the dignity of the US vice president,” he said. “They must appreciate that America has interests, too, not just Israel.”
