‘Jerusalem Should be at World’s Center’

Jerusalem should return to the role it played in history, when it was the center of the world and a major destination for tourists and pilgrims from all religions, Jerusalem Mayor Nir Barkat told an audience at the prestigious London think-tank Chatham House on Monday evening.
“I want to return the role Jerusalem played 2,000-3,000 years ago to the front of the table, when it was the center of the world, where modern civilization started, a destination for tourists, for pilgrims from all religions. Jerusalem has that potential today,” he said.
“The challenge we have is to open up Jerusalem for the benefit of the world, open up its economy, to expand freedom of religion,” he said.
Today around 2 million tourists visit the Israeli capital each year. Barkat said he wanted to reach 10 million tourists in the next decade, adding that this would lead to 140,000 new jobs that would benefit all of Jerusalem’s residents.
“When people understand it’s boosting the economy, they play ball,” he said. “Carrots [incentives] and economy is the best way to promote the city of Jerusalem and the Middle East.
“Where there is economic growth, people become calmer,” he went on. “When the economy is poor, people become more radical. So part of the solution and vision I have is to make Jerusalem a better place to live, to visit and to open a business.”
“There is not one instance in history in which a city has split that ever worked,” he said. “Understanding the needs of the different sectors of the city and the role that Jerusalem must play, it has to stay united and we have to focus; rather than the division, we must focus on the whole.”
Barkat declared that “if there is one city in the world that has to work as a whole, it is Jerusalem. If there is one city in the world that making it work better, for the benefit of all its residents, can make an impact on the world, that is the city of Jerusalem.”…more…
Evangelical Christians Now Being Targeted in Russia

As the Russian Orthodox Church gains more and more favor from the Russian government, unease has set into other churches in the country. Their fears were not unwarranted, as armed Russian police with dogs have invaded an Evangelical Lutheran service.
Moscow, Russian Federation – Historically, Evangelical Christians have been known for very aggressive proselytising, even in war torn areas. According to Spero News, the Russian Orthodox Church has fought proselytising in what it views as its own back yard.
It has been a year since the Russian government, under the leadership of President Medvedev moved to instill moral and religious values in young people, targeting those whose age is between 14 and 30 years. Medvedev maintains that this generation must rediscover their religious roots after the loss of values during the Soviet era, reported Spero News last March.
The Liberty of Conscience Institute says the Russian government is “cozying” up to the Orthodox Church in ways that could inhibit religious freedom and feels there is cause to be concerned.
The Justice Ministry proposed to amend the federal law on “freedom of conscience and religious organisations” this past November. If the legislation goes into law it would effectively make it illegal for people to pray together without government authorization and would also ban religious organizations from admitting people with criminal records…more…

Passage of the so-called “health care reform” bill in the House of Representatives this past Sunday, March 21 (I won’t even address the inferred unconstitutionality of Congress doing business on the Lord’s Day. See Article. I. Section. 7. Paragraph. 2.) drove yet another stake into the heart of America.
For all intents and purposes, it is the health of the United States that is in dire need of healing. In fact, the US has been on extended life-support for decades. With its condition being rendered critical, and absent major surgery, its days are numbered. The passage of this bill only serves to further weaken an already frail Constitution. In fact, this one may prove to be the fatal blow. Lady Liberty may never recover.
The decision by Congress to socialize medicine in the US ranks among the most draconian, most egregious, most horrific actions ever taken by the central government in Washington, D.C. This bill rocks the principles of liberty and constitutional government to the core. It changes fundamental foundations; it repudiates historical principle. Oh! The same flag may fly on our flagpoles, the same monuments may grace our landscape, and the same National Anthem may be sung during our public ceremonies, but it is not the same America. The Congress of the United States has now officially turned America into a socialist state.
On March 23, 2010, President Barack Obama signed the health care bill into law, and as such, this date–along with March 21–joins a list of dates that have each inflicted unconstitutional, socialistic, and sometimes even tyrannical action against the States United and have, therefore, contributed to the destruction of a free America.

This is the date when General Robert E. Lee surrendered the Army of Northern Virginia to U.S. Grant at Appomattox Court House, Virginia. Regardless of where one comes down on the subject of the Civil War, one fact is undeniable: Abraham Lincoln forever destroyed the Jeffersonian model of federalism in America.
Ever since, virtually every battle that free men have fought for the principles of limited government, State sovereignty, etc., have all stemmed directly from Lincoln’s usurpation of power, which resulted in the subjugation and forced union of what used to be “Free and Independent States” (the Declaration of Independence). In fact, the philosophical battles being waged today regarding the recent health care debacle (and every other encroachment upon liberty and State power by the central government) have their roots in Lincoln’s tyranny.

This is the date when the 14th Amendment was ratified. This amendment codified into law what Lincoln had forced at bayonet point. Until then, people were only deemed citizens of their respective states. The Constitution nowhere referred to people as “US citizens.” It only recognized “the Citizens of each State.”
Notice also that citizenship was only recognized among the “several States,” not among people living in non-State territories. Until the 14th Amendment, people were “Citizens of each State.” (Article. IV. Section. 2. Paragraph. 1.) The 14th Amendment created a whole new class of persons: “citizens of the United States.” This false notion of “one nation” overturned the Jeffersonian principle that our nation was a confederated republic, a voluntary union of states.

Mother furious after in-school clinic sets up teen’s abortion

The mother of a Ballard High School student is fuming after the health center on campus helped facilitate her daughter’s abortion during school hours.
The mother, whom KOMO News has chosen to identify only as “Jill,” says the clinic kept the information “confidential.”
When she signed a consent form, Jill figured it meant her 15 year old could go to the Ballard Teen Health Center located inside the high school for an earache, a sports physical, even birth control, but not for help terminating a pregnancy.
“She took a pregnancy test at school at the teen health center,” she said. “Nowhere in this paperwork does it mention abortion or facilitating abortion.”
Jill says her daughter, a pro-life advocate, was given a pass, put in a taxi and sent off to have an abortion during school hours all without her family knowing.
“We had no idea this was being facilitated on campus,” said Jill. “They just told her that if she concealed it from her family, that it would be free of charge and no financial responsibility.”
The Seattle School District says it doesn’t run the health clinics at high schools. Swedish Medical Center runs the clinic at Ballard High and protects the students’ privacy…more…
